COUNSELING PROCESS

I often use a variety of therapeutic techniques, but my main technique and philosophy is Client Centered Counseling. Client Centered Counseling is based on the belief that clients have all the tools they need for growth. The client just needs to be in an environment that encourages growth.
My task is to facilitate this type of environment using genuiness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. In this trusting and safe place the client can explore their thoughts and feelings. The client can then figure out their own course in a supportive environment without my plans for them getting in the way. I think this is important because often it is much easier to get advice rather than support. In this form of counseling the client is considered the expert on their own life.
